Professor Yan (Kathy) Cao

Professor Yan (Kathy) Cao
Professor of Chinese Language & Culture

Professor Yan Cao is an instructor of Chinese language and Culture at the Confucius Institute of Miami Dade College, and a Lecturer of “Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language” at Jiangsu Normal University in China. She joined the teaching staff of the Institute in the fall of 2014, and is currently completing a three-year teaching assignment at Miami Dade College. She holds an M.A. in Theory of Literature and Art from Jiangsu Normal University. Prior to accepting her current position at the Institute, Prof Cao has been teaching a large number of Chinese language courses (from level 1 to level 6) at International College of Jiangsu Normal University for five years. Her international students come from the USA, Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, the Comoros, Equatorial Guinea, etc. Outside of teaching, Prof. Cao is the coordinator of the Chinese Culture Club activities at MDC’s North Campus.

Ms. Qingli Lin

Ms. Qingli Lin
Volunteer Teacher

Ms. Qingli Lin joined the staff of the Confucius Institute at MDC in the spring of 2017 as an instructor of Chinese Language and Culture. She received a B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature from Yantai University. She has special interest as well as previous experience in teaching Mandarin Chinese as a second language since October 2013 to June 2015. In addition, she is talented with Xingyiquan, also in traditional art of Chinese paper-folding. Prior to her current appointment at MDC, she received professional training from the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in Shanghai and became a Hanban-certified Chinese instructor. She currently teaches Mandarin Chinese and assists with CI administrative work on Wolfson Campus.

Prof. Hui Wang

Prof. Hui Wang
Professor of Chinese Language & Culture

Professor Hui Wang is an associate professor from Jiangsu Normal University, China. She’s been the staff of the Confucius Institute at MDC since the fall semester, 2015. She holds a degree of MA in Contrastive Linguistics between English and Chinese in Jiangsu Normal University. Prior to her current teaching at the Confucius Institute, she taught international students Chinese language and culture in Jiangsu Normal University in China, which brought her to the United States. And besides, Prof. Wang is the coordinator of the Chinese Culture Club activities at MDC’s Kendall Campus.

Prof. Jiangnan Wu

Prof. Jiangnan Wu
Instructor of Chinese Language and Culturer

Ms. Jiangnan Wu joined the staff of the Confucius Institute as an instructor of Chinese Language and Culture in September, 2015. She received a B.A in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and majors in linguistic and applied linguistic during her M.A. study at Jiangsu Normal University. With professional training from the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in Beijing 2015 summer, she has been a Hanban-certified Chinese language teacher. Ms. Wu is talented with various Chinese Art forms, such as Taichi, Ba Duan Jin (traditional Chinese health and fitness Qigong exercise routine), Pipa (traditional Chinese musical instrument), calligraphy, Chinese knot, and Chinese paper-cutting. She is also fond of playing table tennis. Being enthusiastic about teaching Chinese as a second language, she worked at Kendall camps in 2015 fall, from 2016 spring to 2017 spring, she taught Mandarin Chinese at Wolfson campus and coordinated the Chinese Culture Club activities there in 2016 fall. Currently she teaches Mandarin Chinese at MDC North Campus.

Leijiang Su

Leijiang Su

Professor of Chinese Language and Culture

Leijiang Su is a Professor of Chinese language and Culture at Miami Dade College’s Confucius Institute and a lecturer of English at North China Electric Power University. He joined the Institute in fall, 2016 and is currently completing a two–year teaching assignment at the Miami Dade College. He holds an M.A. in English Language and Literature from North China Electric Power University and a B.A. in Foreign Linguistics from Ocean University of China. Before joining the CI at Miami Dade College, Leijiang Su taught a multiple English and Chinese language courses at North China Electric Power University in diverse areas as  Science-English, Theater appreciation-English, Sports-English, just to name a few.

Ms. Ziwen Qi

Ms. Ziwen Qi
Instructor of Chinese Language and Culturer

Ms. Ziwen Qi joined the staff of the Confucius Institute at MDC in the January of 2017 as an instructor of Chinese Language and Culture. She received a B.A. in Business English from Jiangsu Normal University in China, As well as a Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Ziwen Qi started learning Guzheng (Chinese zither) since she was 5 years’ old, she also plays the Chinese Bamboo Flute. She has been awarded the Musical certification Level 10 (the highest level) in the Playing Guzheng, and Musical certification Level 8 in the Playing of Chinese Bamboo Flute. Ziwen Qi has also actively participated in all kinds of art events and contest, and won the third place of traditional Chinese musical instruments among Jiangsu Province, China. Prior to her current appointment at MDC, she received professional training from the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in Shanghai and became a Hanban-certified Chinese instructor. She currently teaches Mandarin Chinese at MDC North Campus and often participates in Chinese cultural events through the community in companion with the CI team.
