Prof. Jingping (Barbara) Guo
Professor of Chinese Language & Culture

Jingping Guo is a Professor of Chinese Language and Culture at the Confucius Institute and an associate professor of English at Jiangsu Normal University. She joined the staff of the Institute in the spring of 2013 and is currently completing a three–year teaching assignment at Miami Dade College. She holds an M.A in Contrastive Linguistics from Jiangsu Normal University and her research focus is the translation of Chinese classics into English as well as that of Shakespeare’s classics into Chinese. Prior to her current appointment at the Institute, she taught Chinese language and culture to international students in China. This was a work experience that she enjoyed profoundly and which she is happy to be continuing at present, only now in the United States. Outside of teaching, Prof. Guo is the coordinator of the Chinese Culture Club activities at MDC’s Kendall Campus and enjoys sharing her mastered skills in traditional handcrafts and Chinese cuisine with her friends, acquaintances and students.

Prof. Han Li
Professor of Chinese Language & Culture

Han Li is is a Professor of Chinese language and Culture at Miami Dade College’s Confucius Institute and a lecturer of English at Jiangsu Normal University. He joined the staff of the Institute in 2012 and is currently completing a two–year teaching assignment at the Miami Dade College. He holds an M.A. in English Language and Literature from Jiangsu Normal University and a B.A. in English Education, also from the same institution. Prior to accepting his current position at the Institute, Prof Li taught a large number of English and Chinese language courses at his alma mater–Jiangsu Normal University–to both Chinese and international students. He has published a number of articles in his field and his research work has been featured in the Chinese Culture Monthly, the Journal of Xuzhou University and China Book Press. Outside of teaching, Prof. Li is the coordinator of the Chinese Culture Club activities at MDC’s Wolfson Campus.

Prof. Yajuan Huang
Professor of Chinese Language & Culture

Prof. Huang is from Henan, China and joined the staff of the Confucius Institute as a Professor of Chinese Language and Culture this fall of 2013. She received a B.A. in History (2003) and an M.A. in Ancient Chinese History (2006) from Henan University. From 2006 to the present, she has taught History at Zhengzhou University of Light Industry and served as assistant supervisor of IELTS at the British Council of IELTS Test Center. She brings to her current assignment at Miami Dade College, seven years of teaching experience, including one year of teaching Chinese at Emory University, Georgia. She currently teaches Chinese at the Wolfson Campus, but beginning spring of 2014 she will be teaching at, and coordinating the Chinese Culture Club activities of, the North Campus.

Prof. Wensheng (Kevin) Yang
Emeritus Professor of Chinese Language & Culture

Wensheng Yangis a Professor of Chinese Language and Culture at Miami Dade College’s Confucius Institute and a lecturer at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications – College of Arts and Sciences. He holds an M.A. in Chinese Language and Literature from Southwest Normal University and his specialization is the teaching of Chinese as a Second Language. Over the years, he has taught a broad range of courses pertaining to Chinese language and culture. Some of these courses include business spoken Chinese, Chinese culture for travelers, advanced spoken Chinese and a wide array of courses in listening, reading comprehension and writing for non–Chinese speakers. Outside of teaching, Professor Yang is the coordinator of the Chinese Culture Club activities at MDC’s North Campus and draws from his expertise in Chinese ethnic songs, dances, tea-ceremonies and tai–chi to plan student activities therein. Prof. Yang will be completing his three year teaching assignment at Miami Dade College in the fall of 2013.
