To further Miami Dade College’s mission of “changing lives through the enriching opportunities of higher education,” the Confucius Institute holds conferences and professional development programs that engage American and Chinese executives with the work of their counterparts. These events enable the exchange of ideas between the two groups as well as intellectual engagement that encourages mutual exploration. These events create a venue for executives to be exposed to cross–cultural perspectives while simultaneously staying up–to–date in the best–practices of their fields.

In conjunction with the Miami International Film Festival (MIFF), MDC School of Entertainment & Design Technology, Chinese Language Teacher Association (Florida Chapter), and the United Association of Chinese Students, Scholars & Alumni (Miami), the Confucius Institute hosted a 3 day symposium on Chinese film as an educational tool in classrooms and cultural transmission venue. It featuring renowned film directors and speakers from China, and offered an invaluable platform for leaders in the Chinese, Latin American and American film, business and cultural industries to network and exchange ideas.
Vocational School Principals from China’s Heilongjiang Province (Feb 25-28, 2013; May 18–24, 2012)
A five-day visit, organized by MDC’s Confucius Institute with the support of the Office of Career and Technical Education, provided extensive first-hand knowledge of program curriculum and organizational structure for a large constituency of vocational school principals and leaders of the Heilongjiang Department of Education. Members of the delegation came from schools covering a broad variety of disciplines and learned valuable lessons to apply back in China through informative campus visits, lectures and hands-on demonstrations
In collaboration with the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Miami, the School of Business and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Initiatives at Miami Dade College assembled a panel of experts to explore the political implications of China's increased presence in Latin America as well as depict the overall macro-trends resulting from this growing integration.
On October 7, 2010, the CI at Miami Dade College in partnership with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce sponsored a day-long conference that focused on business and investment opportunities in China for U.S. companies. The conference featured business executives with on-the-ground experience and hands-on information for business partnership formation.
