Program Costs:
The program cost is approximately $3957 for students 23 and younger, and $4703 for students 24 and older.  This includes airfare, lodging, ground transportation, daily breakfast, international medical insurance, and most museum entrances.  Financial aid may be available for qualifying students.  This does NOT include tuition and fees for the three courses.

European Architecture Summer Study Abroad Program

Program Description:
The European Architecture study abroad program is designed for students of Architecture and for others who may profit from
in situ study of city space and places, environmental design, and the aesthetics of structures. Students will return with an appreciation of other cultures, an awareness of European design development, an awareness of international problems and issues, a sense of global interdependence, and general cultural enrichment.

 

Dates:
June 25 – July 14, 2008 (DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE)

 

Location:
Each year, the program travels to different cities throughout Europe.  In the past, students have visited cities in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Spain and Italy, following initial on-campus instruction for two weeks, pre-departure orientation sessions, with the study tour portion taught abroad.  The 2008 program will visit England, France, Italy, Greece, and Switzerland.

 

Courses:
Students will register for three courses, for a total of 9 credits:
ARC 2765 (Introduction to Cities of the World), ARC 2767 (Architectural History: Urban Spaces) and ARC 1113 (Sketchbook Studies).  Courses will be taught by Professor Amar Sawhney who teaches architectural design, drawing and architectural communications at MDC.
