Program Description:
The program is designed for Spanish language students who may profit from being immersed in the culture of the language they are studying. Students will return with an appreciation of another culture, an awareness of some aspects of European history and civilization, architecture, international issues, a sense of globalization, and enrichment of the Spanish language.

October 24th to November 1st

Course:
Students must be enrolled in one of the following courses: SPN 1120, 1121, 2201, 2220 or 2340

Tentative Itinerary (program fees and itinerary subject to change):

Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 Depart from Miami to Sevile
Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 Arrive in Seville
Group will be by ICS representative and pertinent information will be shared. From the airport, students will go to their host family
Monday, Oct. 27, 2008 Students report at the International College of Seville for orientation and classes
Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 Attend classes and guided visit of La Catedral de Sevilla
Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 Attend classes and visit Archivo de Indias or el Alcazar
Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 Attend classes and visit Italica
Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 Attend classes and a lecture at University of Seville
Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 Depart Seville - Madrid for Miami

Application Process:
Your application packet consists of the following:

  • 3-page application
  • Student Mobility Audit accompanied by a copy of your passport
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor
  • Personal statement/letter of interest on why you would like to participate in the program (200-300 words max.)
  • Degree audit or MDC transcripts (2.5 minimum GPA requirement)
  • $150 non-refundable deposit: DUE UPON ACCEPTANCE. SEE BELOW FOR PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS.

Space is limited—early applicants will be given priority
Checks or money orders for the $150 deposit must be made payable to MIAMI DADE COLLEGE
Credit card payments are also accepted (Visa or Mastercard only)
Only complete applications will be considered

Program Fee:
$2,300. Fee includes: airfare, all meals with host families, lodging, classes in seville, cultural visits, and medical insurance. Financial Aid available for qualifying students.

Payment Instructions:

  • For deposits and payment of all program fees, please download and complete the Deposit form. In the Explanation section of the deposit form, please make sure that you list your full name, student ID, and a short description of the payment that you are making (i.e. initial deposit for the Study Abroad in Seville program).


  • Please take the deposit form to the Bursar’s office at your campus to process payment. You may pay by check, money order, or credit card (Visa and Mastercard only). All payments must be made payable to MIAMI DADE COLLEGE


  • VERY IMPORTANT: Request a receipt for your transaction. You will need to present this proof of payment to the Office of International Education. Without this receipt, we are unable to secure your place in the program. Receipts can be faxed to (305) 237-7439 or delivered to room 1450 of the Wolfson Campus.


  • Your non-refundable deposit is due upon acceptance. All program fees must be paid in full by Friday, September 19, 2008
