	Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Radiation Therapy Technology Program, you must met these criteria.

• You hold, or will hold at the time of enrollment in the Radiation Therapy technology Program, a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (GED).
• You have applied to and been fully accepted by Miami Dade College. (For application information, see the Miami Dade College Catalog, available from admissions and registration offices on any campus.)
• You have passing scores on the Computerized Placement Test (CPT), or if you have taken the test but have not passed, then you have satisfactorily completed the developmental courses prescribed by MDC. The CPT can be scheduled through Testing Services at any MDC campus. For exceptions to this requirement, see the MDC Catalog.
• You have earned a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5. (3.0 preferred) on a scale of 4.0 for any college-level courses you have taken.
• You have earned a "C" grade or better on any required pre-radiation therapy course you have taken.
• You have not repeated more than once any science or math course that you have taken.
• You have met with a Program Representative or Medical Campus Advisor.
• You have completed HSC 0003.
• You have satisfied the college computer competency requirements.
• You have passed a physical examination upon admission to the program.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Each year 15-25 students are chosen.  Because there may be a greater number of qualified applicants for the RAT program than can be accommodated, program personnel have established selection criteria.  Once applicants have met the basic admission requirements of submitting an application and transcripts, they will be given priority for admission according to the following:

• students with the highest program GPA will be considered first and awarded points based on a sliding scale from 4.0 to 2.5
• Students witht the highest GPA in the general education requirements of science and math courses as described on the curriculum page will be awarded extra points on a sliding scale from 4.0 to 3.0
• Beginning in the spring of 2009, students will be awarded points based on their writing skills
• Students that have completed all required program general education courses, including HSC 0003, without a repeat due to a D, F, or W

When an applicants candidacy is being evaluated, all of these criteria will be considered.  For instance, a less than perfect GPA may be counterbalanced by completion of all non-RAT courses with no repeats on final grades below a C or due to a withdraw.  Applicants who are not selected are encouraged to consider the above criteria and reapply for admission with a subsequent class of students.

Miami Dade County applicants with all of the non-RAT general education courses completed and with the highest GPA in these courses will be given first priority.
