Application Criteria – Accelerated Option (Full Time Only)
To apply to the Accelerated Nursing Option in the School of Nursing, the applicant must:
1. Successfully complete HSC 0003, Introduction to Health Care, prior to the application deadline. Should you have prior medical training, are a foreign medical graduate or possess a current Florida license in a medical field and a current CPR card, please contact Health Sciences and Related Studies department at 305-237-4134 to ask an advisor about an exemption for this course.
2. Successfully complete the following general education and natural sciences pre-requisite courses with a “C” or higher prior to the application deadlines:

* A baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited institution in the United States will exempt the student from these general education courses.
** Anatomy and Physiology courses must be completed within 10 years of application deadline date. Any student with a passing grade for courses over 10 years old will need to see an Advisor at Medical Campus to complete an “Appeal to Repeat a Course with a “C” or Better.”
3. Have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5
4. Graduates from an accredited institution outside the United States must participate in the TOEFL process – please see an academic advisor for more details.
5. Complete the TEAS Test with a minimum scores of 58.7 % or higher.
Additional Requirements:
1. Applicants must provide proof through Official Transcripts of a baccalaureate degree or higher in the United States.
2. Graduates from an accredited institution outside the United States must provide official transcripts, translation and evaluation and must participate in the TOEFL process – please see an academic advisor for more details.
3. Applicants with more than three (3) grades of “D”, “F”, or “W” in the required natural science pre-requisite courses are not eligible for entry in any of the Nursing program options.
4. Additionally, applicants with more than two (2) enrollments (D, F, or W) for any of the required natural science pre-requisite courses are not eligible for entry into any of the Nursing program options.
Selection (Weighted) Criteria:
1. Scores on the TEAS Test (60%)
2. Natural Sciences GPA (40%)
