Summer Academy:

The Summer Academy is designed for rising high school seniors who are seriously considering a future in an Allied Health profession. Applications are accepted from students enrolled at North Miami Beach Senior High School and Homestead Senior High School. The Academy runs for 6 weeks, beginning in mid-June through the end of July. Participating students attend classes at the Medical Center Campus of Miami Dade College. Eligibility for selection is not guaranteed.

Eligibility for High School Students:

  • Be enrolled at North Miami Beach Senior High School or Homestead Senior High School
  • Have a C or B average 
  • Be a U.S. Citizen, non-citizen national or foreign national possessing a Visa permitting permanent residency in the United States 
  • Have a desire to pursue one of the health careers listed below :
  • Dental Hygiene 
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography 
  • Emergency Medical Services 
  • Histologic Technology 
  • Medical Laboratory Technician 
  • Opticianry 
  • Veterinary Technician 
  • Paramedic 
  • Health Information Management
  • Physical Therapy Assistant 
  • Physician Assistant 
  • Radiation Therapy 
  • Radiography 
  • Respiratory Technician
