Intercollege/Interlibrary Loan

Books or articles that are not owned by the Medical Center Campus Library may be obtained from other institutions via Intercollege Loan (ICL) or Interlibrary Loan (ILL). MDC students, faculty and staff may request materials online.

Items that can be obtained from libraries within Florida's Community College System are usually received within a week. Other items may take up to two (2) weeks to be received.  While the Florida community college libraries do not normally charge for lending their materials, there may be a charge for items requested from other institutions outside the state’s community colleges.  You will be informed of such charges if they apply.  The borrower is notified by telephone or by email when a requested item becomes available for pick-up at the Service Desk in the library. The loan period for the item depends on the policy of the lending institution.

In the case of textbooks, it is not Miami Dade College policy to request these items from other libraries.  If the textbook is already in the Medical Center Campus library collection, it must be placed on Reserve for in-library use only.

To request media from other MDC campuses contact the Media Services Department.
