Videotape – VHS VCR Use
To view a videotape you must check out the Access Kit from the Service Desk.
1. Turn on the flat screen by pressing the POWER button on the flat screen remote control.
a. The light in the bottom right corner of the screen will turn from red to green.
2. Push the INPUT button on the flat screen remote until the word “VIDEO” appears in the upper right corner of the screen.
3. Turn on the computer by pressing the Optiflex 280 button; a green light will be seen. (It is not necessary to logon).
4. Turn on the speakers with the VOLUME knob; a green light will be seen.
a. Be considerate of your Library neighbors and adjust the volume only as loud as necessary.
5. Insert the videotape into the VCR and REWIND to be sure the tape starts from the beginning.
6. After the tape is completely rewound, press the VCR PLAY button to view the tape.
7. When you are done watching the videotape, rewind the tape completely, press the VCR STOP/EJECT button, remove the tape and put it back in the case.
8. Turn off the flat screen by pressing the POWER button on the remote.
a. The light in the bottom right corner of the screen will turn from green to red.
9. Turn off the speakers with the VOLUME knob; the green light will go out.
10. Return the videotape and Access Kit to the Service Desk.
DVD Use
To view a DVD you must check out the Access Kit from the Service Desk.
1. Turn on the computer by pressing the Optiflex 280 button; a green light will be seen.
2. Turn on the flat screen by pressing the POWER button on the flat screen remote control.
a. The light in the bottom right corner of the screen will turn from red to green.
3. Push the INPUT button on the flat screen remote until “RGB2” appears in the upper right corner of the screen.
4. Logon to the computer.
5. Load the DVD into the top drawer of the computer. (Second drawer is for CDs).
a. Push the button under the top drawer to open it.
b. Carefully place the DVD in the drawer (printed label side up).
c. Push the button under the drawer to close it.
d. Double click the MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop.
e. Click, hold and drag the “DVD Title” (D:) icon onto the desktop. Drop it on the POWER DVD icon
i. After about 5 seconds (loading time) the POWER DVD software will play the DVD.
ii. Clicking the right mouse button once displays the DVD control menu. Click the
right mouse again to remove the menu.
iii. Double click the left mouse button anywhere on the DVD image to view the DVD full screen.
iv. Double click the left mouse button again to restore the computer desktop.
6. Turn on the speakers with the VOLUME knob; a green light will be seen.
a. Be considerate of your Library neighbors and adjust the volume only as loud as necessary.
7. When you are through watching the DVD push the button under the top drawer to eject the DVD.
a. Carefully remove the DVD, place it back in its case and push the button under the top drawer to close it.
8. When you are through using the computer be sure to Shut Down.
9. Turn off the flat screen by pressing the POWER button on the remote.
a. The light in the bottom right corner of the screen will turn from green to red.
10. Turn off the speakers with the VOLUME knob; the green light will go out.
11. Return the DVD and Access Kit to the Service Desk.
Computer Use
To use the computer you must check out the Access Kit from the Service Desk.
1. Turn on the computer by pressing the Optiflex 280 button; a green light will be seen.
2. Turn on the flat screen by pressing the POWER button on the flat screen remote control.
a. The light in the bottom right corner of the screen will turn from red to green.
3. Push the INPUT button on the flat screen remote until “RGB2” appears in the upper right corner of the screen.
4. Logon to the computer (with Caps Lock OFF) and it is ready for use.
5. Turn on the speakers with the VOLUME knob; a green light will be seen.
a. Be considerate of your Library neighbors and adjust the volume only as loud as necessary.
6. When you are through using the computer be sure to Shut Down.
7. Turn off the flat screen by pressing the POWER button on the remote.
a. The light in the bottom right corner of the screen will turn from green to red.
8. Turn off the speakers with the VOLUME knob; the green light will go out.
9. Return the Access Kit to the Service Desk.
Using the Mouse In the Air
1. The mouse can be used while being held in the air like a flashlight.
2 .It is not necessary to point the mouse at the screen.
3. Pull and hold the trigger with your index finger to start the mouse tracking the movement of your wrist up and down or left and right.
4. Use your thumb to left and right click or use the scroll wheel.
5. For greater accuracy, move the cursor over the target and release the trigger, then left or right click using your thumb.
a. Double click the trigger to keep the cursor continuously active (tracking your movements).
b. Double click the trigger again to turn off the continuously active mode.
HELPFUL HINTS
1. Logon the computer with Caps Lock OFF.
2. Flat screen remote INPUT “VIDEO” is for watching VCR/Videotape.
3. Flat screen remote INPUT “RGB2” is for using the computer and watching DVDs.
4. The top computer drawer is for DVDs.
5. 2 USB ports are available behind the flip-up door at the bottom of the computer front panel.
6. Use the keyboard facing the screen. On your lap works fine.
7. Check the computer sound levels.
a. Double click the Speaker icon in the lower right corner of the screen and adjust the slider controls up.
b. Uncheck the MUTE boxes.
8. Check the keyboard sound adjustments
a. Adjust volume up or down with the top row keyboard “+” and “-“ keys.
b. Push the top row keyboard MUTE key to be sure keyboard Mute is OFF.
9. No response from the mouse or keyboard? Activate both by …
a. Pressing the Receiver LEARN button in the Antenna until the Status light blinks slowly.
b. Then hold down the TEACH button, on the bottom of the mouse, for 2 seconds until the Receiver Status light blinks rapidly, then …
c. Hold down the TEACH button, on the bottom of the keyboard, for 2 seconds until the Receiver Status light again blinks rapidly.
d. DO NOT press the Receiver LEARN button a second time after activating the first device.
NOTE: DO NOT press the Channel button at any time.
