LIBRARY INSTRUCTION GUIDELINES
The purpose of Library Instruction is to familiarize students with the library and to enable them to retrieve and evaluate information from a variety of resources in a variety of formats. The Library Instruction sessions may include general information on using library resources or may be tailored to suit specific course needs or assignments. Library Instruction sessions generally run 45-50 minutes in length. Faculty are encouraged to offer Library Instruction to their classes.
The Library has developed the following guidelines for faculty requesting a Library Instruction session:
Instruction is available during the Library's regular hours, including evenings and Saturdays.
To allow for proper preparation, requests for instruction should be made at least five working days before the requested instruction date.
Requests for instruction may be made by filling out and submitting the electronic form, which can also be found on the Library's web page on the left side menu under online forms .
A separate form needs to be filled out for each instruction.
For scheduling purposes, please indicate two possible dates for the instruction.
You will receive an email confirming the instruction.
The instruction will be held in the room where the class meets not in the Library.
Faculty are asked to stay in the classroom during the instruction. Faculty participation is encouraged.
When the instruction is linked to a particular assignment, please provide the library with a copy of the assignment at the time of making the instruction request.
Students may be requested to complete a short Faculty Librarian Student Feedback Survey at the end of the instruction. Faculty cooperation is appreciated.
