10 Things You Should Know about MDC’s

Welcome to Miami Dade College’s Medical Center Campus! One of the main responsibilities of MDC’s Libraries is to support the research needs of students. We strive to help make your academic experience successful and enjoyable, so please stop by with your questions and let us know how we can help.

1. You can use the library to study.

   4 study rooms are available for groups of 2 to 6 people.
   Quiet study carrels are available.

2. Computers are available.

   Desktop computers with Microsoft Office & Internet access are available.
   Wireless laptops with Microsoft Office & Internet are available for use in the Library.
   A limited number of laptops with Microsoft Office may be checked out.

3. Reading assignments, videos and other items may be placed on reserve by your professors.

   Most reserve materials are restricted to library use only.

4. Photocopying and printing services are available.

   $0.08 for black and white printing and for photocopies.
   $0.40 for color printing.

5. Many library services and resources are accessible online via the library web page.

   The library catalog, LINNCWeb, helps you locate materials in the library.
   Many databases provide full text articles, ebooks and other information.
   Guides for writing a paper according to APA style are provided.
   Program guides provide a central research point by program area.


6. Reference Librarians are available to assist you with research and projects.

   Stop by to ask a question in person.
   You can also ask a question online or by calling the library.

7. Thousands of books, videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and CDs can be checked out or viewed in the library.

   The collection supports the campus’ specialized nursing and allied health programs.

8. You will need a valid MDCard to check out materials and use other library services/resources.

9. VCR/DVD players are available for viewing videos.

   Headphones may be borrowed at the Service Desk.

10. The daily newspaper and the latest journals in the medical field are available.
