Biography Resource Center provides full-text resources from books,
periodicals, and the Internet on notable people from throughout history,
whose major interests include the arts, business, current events,
entertainment, history, literature, politics, and science.
Type
www.mdc.edu in the address field at the
top of the web browser.
Click on Libraries in the menu on
the left side of the screen.
Click on Find Articles.
Select Miami Dade College (your
home college), enter the 16-digit number from your Miami Dade
student ID in the Borrower ID box; type EITHER the last
four digits of your social security number in the PIN
box, and then click Log on. You must be a currently registered
student or MDC employee to access the databases.
Enter the name of the person
you wish to search for in the box. You may type first name,
then last name or begin with the last name. If you type the
last name first, mark Start of last name. If not,
select Name contains. Names do not need to be
capitalized. Notice that you can indicate the number of
documents you would like to retrieve. Click on search.
Click on the entry that most closely
matches the name of the person you are searching for.
Several categories for each entry should appear, among them:
narrative biographies, magazine and newspaper articles,
thumbnail biographies, and websites. Click on the category you would like to search.
Note that narrative biographies are longer and more detailed
than thumbnail biographies.
A hypertext link in blue will lead to
more information. Underneath the link is a shortened form of
the bibliographic information. Click on the link of your
choice.
Scroll down to the bottom of the
entry. The complete bibliographic citation for the source of the
information is provided under the heading Source Citation.
You can print, save or e-mail
documents from Biography Resource Center.
Other important features: you can search Biography
Resource Center even if you do not know a person's
name. Go to Biographical Facts Research to search by date, place,
nationality, ethnicity, occupation, and/or gender. Go to
Advanced Search to search for terms within full-text, names,
or keywords used in the biography sources.

Collegiate Dictionary, and an excellent Research Guide
that helps you choose your resources.
