Miami-Dade College is pleased to announce the availability of Scholarships for the 2003-2004 academic year.  Various Scholarships from numerous donors are available to students who attend Miami-Dade College.  The Scholarships vary in amounts and requirements, depending on the particular scholarship programs.  Interested students are encouraged to complete and submit the Scholarship application on-line, and submit all additional "requested" supporting documentation to the Campus Scholarship Coordinators.

Minimum Eligibility for Scholarship Consideration

• Completion and submission of Scholarship Application
• Submission of all required supporting documentation
• Students must be admitted to Miami-Dade College
• Student must have completed a Federal Financial Aid Application for 2003-2004

Scholarship Deadline
Priority consideration will be given to students who complete and submit the Scholarship application on-line at www.mdc.edu/Scholarships by February 14, 2003

Scholarship Selection
The College Scholarship Committee will review and select Scholarship recipients.  Initial notification on Intent to Award will begin in March 2003.

Offered to students who have applied for Financial Aid, and have remaining unmet need.  Must have a 2.0 g.p.a. or better.  Student must take a minimum of six (6) credits each term, and provide receipts from the child care provider, must complete the Child-Care Scholarship Application.  $1000 maximum per academic year.

Offered to a North campus student with financial need, demonstrated civic/community involvement, must have a 2.5 g.p.a. or better, minority female, head of household. (submit proof with application)

TOMAS GARCIA FUSTE
 SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT

Offered to students of Hispanic origin and have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Must need at least 40 credits to graduate with an Associate in Arts or Science degree.  Applicant must submit a 250-word essay explaining why the applicant needs scholarship assistance.

NON-ATHLETIC SERVICE GRANTS

Offered for service to the college and cannot exceed cost of 32 credits over the school year.  Award is made semester-by-semester.  This is a service or performance related award that should be made after the service is performed. Contact – Tere Martinez, Student Life, room 4208

Offered to students who do not qualify for federal grants.  Must demonstrate financial need.  Applicants must have family income that would result in Pell Grant indexes up to 9000, or must be ineligible due to immigration problems. Must apply for financial aid and been determined ineligible. Must complete “request form”.

Offered to students in the Fine Arts area on a term-by-term basis.  The student must take classes in the    appropriate discipline.  Must maintain a 3.0 g.p.a. or better in major coursework and a 2.0 g.p.a. or better      overall.  For theater award, student must be a full-time student.
