Browse Students’ Program Objectives
Direct Commands: AD SO MO; AD SO PR; AD SO PG; AD SO BH; AD SO BA; AD SO PN

General:

Although there are at least 6 different browses that can be used to view either the program objectives for a student, or to view lists of students by program, several of them appear to be more useful than others.

Procedures:

The browse shows the following data for each student selected:

Student Name
Student ID Number
Objective Status (Active, Inactive, or Graduated)
Admission Status (Admitted with a Y; Not admitted with an N)
Effective term
Catalog year
Primary Objective (Yes or No)
Advisement Objective (This is not used at MDC)

To view a list of all students currently enrolled for classes who are in a specified program, you can use the "Browse Students in a Program by Name" (AD SO PN) screen.

You must specify a program objective and a term. The term you specify is to get a list of students that are enrolled for at least one class in the specified term.

You may specify the following:

All or part of a student name. This will begin the browse with all students whose names begin with those characters specified, or later in the alphabet.

Campus/center. If you enter a campus or campus/center, you will only see students who are currently enrolled in a class on that specified campus/center.

Home Campus. If you specify a home campus, you will only see students whose home campus for the term specified is the one you enter.

Group. We are not currently using this feature.

Admitted? If you enter a "Y", you will only see students who have been admitted to this program.

The following data is displayed for the students selected:

Student ID number
Student Name
Effective Term (effective term for the program objective for the selected students)
Sex
Date of Birth
Admitted to the Program (Y or N)
Email Address for the Student
Evening and Day Phone Number of the student

To view the history of all the program objectives for an individual student, you may use the "Browse Student Objective History" (AD SO BH) screen.

You must specify a student ID number. You will then see all the programs that this student have ever had.

You may specify a program objective number. This could be useful for a student who has had many different program objectives. By entering a program objective number, the browse will begin with that objective.

You may also enter a term, if you have entered a program objective. Then the browse will begin that program and effective term. This is not very useful.

The browse will display the following information about the student’s objectives:

Objective Status (Active, Inactive or Graduated)
Award Type (e.g., AA for Associate in Arts, AS for Associate in Science, ATV for Applied Technology Diploma for PSAV courses, AAS for Associate in Applied Science, ND for Non-Degree, etc.)
Program ID (student program objective)
Program Name (truncated to 18 characters)
Effective Term of that program objective for that student
Catalog Year (a useless bit of data)
Admission Status (Y for admitted to the program; N if only an applicant)
Primary Objective (Y if it is the primary; N for all other objectives)
Advisement Requested (Not used at MDC)
Group ID (not used at MDC)
Graduation Status (G for graduated; A for not graduated but active; I for inactive)

If you want to see a complete roster of all students who have been admitted to a specified program for a specified effective term , you may use the "Program Roster for Admitted Students" (AD SO PR).

You must specify the program ID and an effective term.

You will then view all the students who were admitted to this program for the term specified.

If you have the appropriate security level for this screen, you may also either dismiss or purge students from the program, or admit students into the program.

For each student displayed, you will see (on panel 1)

Student ID number
Group Number (not used at MDC)
Student Name
Message (if you are modifying a record)

For each student displayed, you will see (on panel 2)

Expected Graduation Term if the student has applied for graduation
Actual Graduation Term if the student has graduated

To view another screen of the student’s current program objectives, you may go to the "Maintain Student Objectives" (AD SO MO) and use the action code of B.

You will then see a list of all programs for the specified student in order by program ID. You will see, for each program selected:

Award Type Code (e.g., AA, AS, ATD, ATV, AAS, ND)
Program ID
Program Name (truncated to 15 characters)
Effective Term
Catalog Year (a useless bit of info)
Admission Status (Y if admitted, N if not yet admitted)
Objective Status (AC for active; IN for inactive; GR for graduated)
Primary Objective (Y or N)
Advisement Requested (not used at MDC)
Group ID (not used at MDC)

The Browse of the "Program Roster by Group for Admitted Students" (AD SO PG) is not used at MDC.
