Professor at Miami Dade


It's difficult to describe the many types of one on one interactions that take place daily between Miami Dade College faculty and students. Sure, our faculty members are nationally recognized and have won numerous awards in science, literature and other disciplines. And we have several Fulbright Scholars in our ranks. But at MDC, helping our students succeed is our faculty�s top priorityMDC Faculty. Just look at:

Ana Cruz, professor of business administration at the Wolfson Campus, who specializes in accounting and taxation. She was named the Florida Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation in 2005. She has worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a field examiner and has vast management experience at manufacturing, service and retail companies. In her 13 years at Wolfson, she has been co advisor for Phi Beta Lambda {LINK}, an organization in which business students compete in regional, state and national competitions. Dr. Cruz has been awarded two Endowed Teaching Chairs, the highest honor granted faculty by Miami Dade College. She was recently appointed chairperson of the business department at Wolfson Campus.

Professor Marta E. Magellan. After graduate school, Professor Magellan taught English to future English teachers in Brazil, where she was born. She received a Fulbright Scholarship in 1979 to continue her studies in linguistics at the University of Southern California, but left in order raise her first baby. She lived and taught in Japan for two years before returning to Miami. Since arriving at Miami Dade College, she has been the recipient of two Endowed Teaching Chairs. She teaches college prep and college-level English classes. Professor Magellan, along with her colleague, Professor Martha Zamorano, helped design a children's literature course that is part of the College's curriculum. She also serves as faculty adviser to the national award-winning literary and arts magazine, Miambiance, published annually at Kendall Campus. Professor Magellan has been part of the MDC family since 1984.
