What Our Students Say

Miami Dade students in classYou expect a college Web site to say wonderful things about itself, but what do the students think?

In February 2005, an independent organization, affiliated with the University of Texas surveyed community college students in Florida and many others across the nation. According to the Community College Survey of Student Engagement, our students clearly said that MDC is doing things right!

MDC students said that the college helped them:

  • think critically and analytically
  • understand people of other ethnic backgrounds
  • learn effectively on their own
  • acquire a broad general knowledge
  • write clearly and effectively

In their overall college experience, MDC students reported:

  • Receiving the support they needed to succeed in college and thrive socially
  • Working harder than they thought they could to meet an instructor’s standards or expectations
  • Finding faculty members to be their “best source for academic advisement”

Nearly all students surveyed (95%) would recommend MDC to their family and friends. And four out of five students called their experience at MDC “excellent” or “good.”
