Name: David Kwiat
Degree(s): B.A. University of Minnesota (summa cum laude)  M.F.A  Florida State University
Birthplace: Minneapolis, MN
Disciplines: Theatre
Years ad MDC: 18
Favorite Class to Teach: Acting Characterization. It is a lot of fun to open students up to the myriad of possibilities. I believe that the full spectrum of behavior lies within each of us-and we have to give ourselves permission to explore that.
What do you do To Relax: Riding my bicycle in the morning, renting Netflix and enjoying a great meal with my new wife. (I got married for the first time at 55!)
Favorite Book/Movie/Music: Music: I love Rock & Roll. I had a garage band when I was in high school and I still get together with most of the six guys when I'm back in Minnesota. [I also really enjoy Prince because he has allowed that soulful sound to evolve through the years.]
Favorite Ice Cream: Coffee with nuts
Favorite Website: New York Times Theater Reviews -- it's the first thing I read when I get to school each morning.
Most Proud Of: March 31, 2007, the day I got married.
Why I Teach: Teaching at New World School of the Arts has been a pleasure. The faculty enjoys teaching here so much none of us ever leave. The student population keeps getting better. They are committed, talented and are great people to be around -- it's truly exhilarating to behold.
I want to be someone students can emulate. I love being in the craft of theater because it molds terrific human beings.
I want from life: I want to be someone students can emulate. I love being in the craft of theater because it molds terrific human beings.
