What is Film Production? About the Major.Lights...Camera...Action...South Florida has become a hotbed for independent filmmakers and music video producers. Students learn what it takes to become a successful film producer, director, writer, cinematographer, manager, editor and production crew member while earning an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Film Production Technology.
Film Production is a creative career track that involves the development, creation and production, and distribution of short narrative films. The program offers training in industry-standard techniques, equipment, and software. The experienced faculty fully prepare students for entry into the graphics industry ensuring a successful and rewarding career.
Students begin handling equipment early in their academic pursuit, and they learn to shoot film, digital tape, and edit projects on AVID, and Final Cut Pro non-linear systems. Students write their own scripts and see these come alive on the "silver screen." MDC/SEDT's Film Production curriculum is the most comprehensive program available in South Florida.
