The American Institute of Banking uses an official letter grading system for courses and training programs eligible for CFT credit. Policies for the use of letter grades are as follows:
|
|
A B C D F |
Excellent Superior Satisfactory Lowest Passing Failing |
| I | Incomplete. This grade is recorded if you are unable to complete the work in a course by the examination period for legitimate reasons. If the work is not completed within the next major term, the I grade automatically becomes a failure. |
| P | Passing. This grade is most often used for shorter programs for which the letter grading system is inappropriate. The P grade is excluded from a calculation of grade average. |
| T | Transfer Credit. This grade is recorded for transfer credit from accredited colleges and universities. Only courses completed with a grade of C or better may be considered for transfer credit. The T grade is excluded from a calculation of grade average. |
| W | Withdrawal. This grade is recorded only if you decide to withdraw after the refund period. |

Graded programs applied to a diploma or certificate must have an overall C average. Only 50 percent of the credits required for a diploma or certificate may be transfer credits. If you have already earned CFT diplomas under previous national guidelines, you may reapply these credits to the existing diplomas and certificates, with a few exceptions. For more information, please the CFT office at (305) 237-3051. CFT instructors cannot earn CFT credit for teaching AIB programs. Instructors may obtain an evaluated measurement of learning and CFT credit for a program through CFT's Testing Out Program. In the elective area, you may use up to 3 CFT credits from any source - including any CFT course, approved local program, or business course that has been transferred from an accredited college - toward the attainment of CFT diplomas and certificates. You may use courses and their corresponding credits for more than one diploma or certificate, if applicable. When you have completed all the requirements, you should arrange to receive your diploma or certificate through the CFT office. For additional information on diplomas or certificates, please call us at (305) 237-3051 or e-mail us.
Is your time limited? Would you find it beneficial to study at your own pace? Is the nearest class site simply too far away? If you said yes to any or all of these questions, enrolling in a correspondence course might be the answer. Even though there is no substitute for the classroom learning experience, correspondence courses are perfect for the student who likes to work independently and whose schedule does not permit attendance at a regular classroom course. Students are provided with a textbook, practical exercises and exams which are administered by your supervisor or a bank officer and are returned upon completion to a grader. Text and exercises are shipped to you in 4 to 6 weeks of registration. Each course qualifies for CFT credits.
To register and for a list of correspondence courses available, please call the CFT office at (305) 237-3051. |
