What is the PASS?
The
PASS is a practice version of the Computerized Placement Test (CPT), which is
part of the Florida College Entry-Level Placement Test.
Who can take the PASS?
The
PASS is offered to new entering students, high school students, returning
students, enrolled ESL students, and anyone else interested in knowing which
courses they would be required to take based upon CPT scores.
Why should I take the PASS?
The
PASS is a great way to measure your skill levels prior to taking the CPT. By
taking the PASS, you can become familiar with the format and content of the
CPT. In addition, it will help determine whether you need to concentrate on a
particular skill area and/or seek appropriate assistance such as coursework or
tutoring.
How do I sign up for the PASS?
The
PASS is available at each of the campus Testing
Departments on an appointment only or walk-in basis. Please contact the
campus of your choice for an appointment and/or a PASS test schedule.
Is there a fee for taking the PASS?
No.
There is no fee to take the PASS.
What specific skills are measured by
the PASS?
Skills
are measured in Reading, Writing and Algebra. The Algebra scores will be used to
determine whether you also have to take the Arithmetic subtest or the College
Level Mathematics subtest.
What is the total testing time for
the PASS?
The
PASS is not timed, although students usually finish in approximately two hours.
When will the results be available?
The
test results are available immediately following the test.
Are the PASS scores used for class
selection?
No.
The scores will serve as a guide and will be a good indicator of where you would
place on the CPT.
How many times can the PASS be
taken?
M-DCC
students may retest once on each subtest of the PASS within one calendar year.
High school students may retake the PASS as needed.
