A full array of general education courses is offered at West including classes in English composition, humanities, social science, psychology, mathematics and natural science.

| Bachelors of Applied Science in Public Safety Management Academic (BAS-PSM) |
| |
The BAS in Public Safety Management degree is a workforce education based degree, combining rigorous academic training with hands-on practical experience. It is a 120 credit hour program incorporating lower – and upper division coursework, including the required 45 credit hours of general education requirements, 30 credit hours of lower-division requirements and 30 credit hours of upper-division requirements, including several specializations.

| College Preparation: Mathematics and English |

English and mathematics courses stress writing, reading, arithmetic and algebraic skills in order to help build skills for students who are under-prepared in these areas. Offerings encompass course work to accommodate the student needs on various skill levels.

The School of Business offers the Associate in Arts degrees in Accounting and Business Administration which seamlessly transfer to a Bachelor's degree including MDC's new Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management (BAS). Courses include accounting, principles of business, management, entrepreneurship, business statistics, and more. The BAS degree gives the hands-on training necessary to prepare students with the abilities and skills required of a manager or supervisor in the dynamic and global business environment.

| School of Computer and Engineering Technologies (SCET) |

The School of Computer and Engineering Technologies (SCET) provides courses and programs designed to meet the work force needs of the information technology, telecommunications, and engineering industries. The primary objective is to produce a trained work force to meet the critical demands in the high technology marketplace of Florida's Internet Coast. Curricula include Associate in Arts and Associate in Science Degrees, as well as College Credit and Vocational Credit Certificate programs. SCET will be expanding its Computer information Systems (CIS) offerings to include computer programming in C++ and Java. These courses are applicable to the A.A. in CIS and to the computer programming A.S. degree.

| School of Justice AA and AS Academic Degree Programs |

Both the AS and the AA degrees are transferable for upper-division studies such as our Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Safety Management (BAS-PSM). The 30 credits of lower division coursework include CCJ 1010Introduction to Criminology and CCJ 1020Introduction Criminal Justice. These courses prepare students with a theoretical and practical foundation with which to enter the Criminal Justice professions or as a platform for exploring upper division coursework leading to the BAS-PSM.

| Social Sciences |

The Social Sciences Department will be offering new and exciting course at West. Psychology majors and other interested students will be able to enroll in CLP 2140 Abnormal Psychology and Human Sexuality SOP2772 classes that provide students with the opportunity to explore other important areas of the psychology discipline. For education majors, Human Sexuality counts as a "diversity" course. In addition INR 2002 Introduction to International Relations. is an excellent class for students in a variety of majors including Business, Political Science, Foreign Languages and for those students planning a careers in the global arena.
