The Music Program offers two degrees, an Associate in Arts (AA) in Music or Music Education and an Associate in Science (AS) in Music Business. There are four full-time and twenty-seven adjunct faculty members that make up the program. Courses are available in music theory, sight singing, music history, music appreciation, music business, MIDI, music appreciation, group instruction in piano, guitar, and voice, and private music lessons.
The program also encompasses a variety of ensembles including chamber music, a concert chorus, an opera workshop, a gospel ensemble, three jazz small groups (the Hard Bop, Blue Note, and Horace Silver ensembles), a jazz workshop, Khakatay (an African drumming ensemble), and Vivace (a flute ensemble).
Facilities include a chamber music recital hall / rehearsal room, a jazz ensemble rehearsal room, twelve practice rooms with pianos, a fifteen seat piano lab, a two piano studio, a music theory room with electric keyboards, an eight station computer music lab, and a percussion studio.
Yearly performances typically include at least ten jazz concerts, two vocal productions, one gospel music concert, two chamber music recitals, nine student recitals, two student honors recitals, and three faculty recitals.
