Studio Arts introduce students to the concepts, materials and methods of a contemporary artist. Students are supported in their effort to acquire an individual vocabulary of shapes and images, and to begin to acquire the habits of a professional artist. Instruction may be customized to accommodate special interests.

Concurrent limited Art History offerings prepare students for more specialized upper division studies, to give studio majors a firm grounding in the context and important visual landmarks of their craft, and to give members of the community some meaningful background material for European travel or for understanding the historical background of the architecture and visual art they encounter in Miami. In response to need, from time to time we may also offer a variety of focused studies in the history of art.
