Cecilia Valdes holds a bachelor's degree in Music Performance (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Florida (New World School of the Arts Music Program). She has extensive training and teaching experience in the theoretical aspects of music, as well as in flute and piano. Currently, she performs on both instruments and teaches music privately. She is also a volunteer organist at the Gesu Church in Miami.
Prior to her current position at MDC, Ms. Valdes worked as a librarian in the Music Division of New World School of the Arts, which gave her an extraordinary opportunity to be exposed to a large range of sometimes-rare musical recordings and scores. Her duties included student services, office organization, data management and cataloging procedures. Recently, she has achieved the ranking of Certified Professional Secretary from the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
