Yovani Bauta holds the degree of Licentiate in Law (Licenciado en Derecho) from Centro Universitario de Matanzas, Cuba. He later attended Escuela Nacionale de Arte and completed vocational studies in fine arts with specialization in painting. His work has since been exhibited in many countries in Europe and the Americas, and reviewed in important international journals, Mr. Bauta has lectured at New School University in New York, Florida International University, and the University of Michigan, among other academic institutions. For 10 years, he performed in "Seña del Humor", a humor ensemble he had founded. He appeared in Liborio Wants To Escape, a performance by Leandro Soto in the United States and Mexico. Another genre in which Mr. Bauta's creativity finds expression is installation, exemplified by his Male I.D. which was recently exhibited at Artemis PS747 in Miami. His essay "Los cuerpos de la nación" was published by Baquiana Editorial and launched at the University of Cadiz, Spain where he participated as a panelist in the conference Intelectuales Cubanos de la Diaspora. |
