Responsibilities

§         Record minutes for every PTK Board and Members meetings.

§         Keep record of the 5 Star system.

§         Maintenance of the PTK’s Office.

How do I deal with those responsibilities?

PTK is part of my life; therefore, I do not dedicate a specific amount of hours to fulfill my duties. I always try to spend my free times at the office, whether if it is a few minutes between my classes, or my study hours, or my lunch breaks. I have a lot of responsibilities and I know that everything must be done properly.  I do my best to keep everything very organized.

How do I manage my time to be part of the Board and to be a student?

Being a Board member has turned me into a better student because it is an additional task in my daily life. I have learned that being organized is not the only key to manage your every day life; you will also need patience, dedication, and passion for what you do.

What has been the most challenging experience in PTK?

The most challenging experience in PTK is definitely having to discuss important issues and defend your opinions with other members that do not agree with you all the time.

How PTK has changed your life?

Since I have joined PTK, my life has changed, I have learned a lot from my fellow Board members and also from the members. They are friendly, smart, comforting and, nice people.  The four Hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa are excellent; they challenge you to give more and not waiting to get anything in return except for the knowledge, the wonderful experience, and the fun.

Why should someone become a PTK member?

Phi Theta Kappa receives a diversity of College Students; our Honors Topic for this academic year says it clearly: Popular Culture”.  PTK is not only about the academic excellence, and the scholarships, but it is also and mostly about the life experiences and the knowledge you get out of it.

Advice to future Secretaries...

Being a Board member is another aspect of Phi Theta Kappa. To me being an officer is being devoted to Phi Theta Kappa, to your chapter and to your fellow members. The Secretary of PTK has to record everything that is discussed within the Chapter; therefore, he/ she should attend every meeting and should keep an organized record. This position is very interested and will definitely help you through life. I will be more than happy to train and help any PTK member who would life to take over my position as a Secretary.
