Hialeah and Wolfson Campuses
Dr. Martinez currently serves as the President of Miami Dade College’s Hialeah and Wolfson Campuses. As Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at the Hialeah Campus, Dr. Martinez led the campus with distinction. He began his tenure at MDC as Department Chair, World Languages at the Kendall Campus in August 2010. He has served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Kendall Campus and as Associate Provost for Student Achievement.
During his tenure at the College, Dr. Martinez has represented the institution on several national initiatives including serving as a reviewer for the Lumina Foundation’s Student Success Framework and the Aspen Institute’s Policy and Principles to Advance Two-generational Efforts initiative. He also serves on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation’s National Evaluation Advisory Council for the College’s celebrated Completion by Design project.
Dr. Martinez earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from Florida Atlantic University in Higher Education Leadership and Research Methodology. He holds a Master of Science (MS) degree from Nova Southeastern University in TESOL Administration and Supervision and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Middlebury College in Political Science and Modern Foreign Languages. Dr. Martinez is fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.
