Fast and Furious with Friends and Family (F4) is the first entry point for new students into the ARCOS program. If you are starting your first semester at MDC, F4 can launch your college experience through a one-week intensive program focused on creating a strong math foundation, mastery of study habits, and exposure to fields of STEM.

Why do I need this?

A strong math foundation is essential for succeeding in future math and science courses and ultimately acquiring a degree in a STEM field. F4 is focused on solidifying this foundation by designing a program geared towards mastering mathematical concepts in Intermediate Algebra (MAT1033). Students who successfully complete the program receive a $200 book stipend.

When does it take place?

The intensive one-week F4 is offered two times per year and runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The first F4 takes place the second week of June (the week before the start of Summer B term) and is designed for new students to get a head start and begin college in the summer. The second F4 takes place the first week of August (two weeks before the start of Fall term) and is designed for students to begin college in the fall.

Who is this for?

F4 is available for STEM students that are starting college either in the summer or fall terms. It is best suited for students that are placed in Intermediate Algebra (MAT1033). An application is required and must be submitted by the deadline to the ARCOS program. For additional program details and to obtain the application, please refer to the F4 application located at the top, right hand side of this page.
