The men’s basketball team will begin the 2015 -16 season on October 30th against Rise Academy. MDC men’s basketball will enter the season with five returning players, and nine newcomers. Miami Dade College men’s basketball recruiting ties have expanded internationally, the Sharks have nine international players from England, Lithuania, Ivory Coast, Hungary, Australia, Spain, and the Bahamas. Last season Head Coach Stephen Cowherd led the Sharks to a 21-11 record, and 8-4 in the Division-1 Southern Conference. The Sharks averaged 73.3 points per game, 35.9 rebounds per game, and 13.9 assists per game. They ranked 27th in the NJCAA for steals per game with 9.9, and 42nd for blocks per game with 4.8. Players Shane Rector and Marvin Jean-Pierre led the team in points with 473, and 388. Shane Rector averaged 16.9ppg, and 4.3rpg, and Marvin Jean Pierre averaged 13.4ppg, and 6.6rpg. The Sharks who made back to back FCSAA state tournament appearances finished 2nd in their conference.

The Miami Dade College Men’s Basketball teams’ 2015-16 season will kick off this Friday, October 30th, 2015.
With a roster turnover that includes 12 new players from eight different countries, the Miami Dade College men’s basketball team will no doubt, rely on a bevy of newcomers this year.
Although the Miami Dade College men’s basketball team did not make it to the FCSAA State Championship, the Sharks have a lot to be proud of
