Miami Dade College Baseball team hit the road to open their season in the Annual JUCO First Pitch Tournament where the Sharks split for the weekend winning one and losing one.
The team first played St. Petersburg College in their first game and they won 7-3 with Kyle Carter pitching 7 innings with 9 strikeouts. Also during this game the team had 9 hits, 7 RBIs and 4 stolen bases with Sophomore Jamal Martin hitting a double.
During the second game that they played that weekend the baseball team loss to #7 Chipola College by one with the final score being 5-6. The game didn’t go down too bad, sophomore Jose Gomez hit the first homerun of the season, and the team had 10 hits and 4 RBIs. The tournament released the MVP list and our very own sophomore Kyle Carter received the MVP Pitcher Award.
The Sharks had their home game opener on February 4 against Broward College and lost 1-2 leaving the sharks with an overall record of 1-2 to open their season. The team travels to Palm Beach State on Wednesday and then they have another home game match up on Saturday February 8 against St. Petersburg for a double header at 12 noon and 3:00 pm.
