Create Tests, Lockdown and Monitor Your Exams with Respondus

Respondus has two tools that assist faculty with their Blackboard assessments. One is Respondus LockDown Browser, which is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system. It locks down computers to prevent cheating during exams. The other one is Respondus Monitor, which builds upon the power of LockDown Browser, using a student’s webcam and industry-leading video analytics to prevent cheating during non-proctored exams. It integrates seamlessly with Blackboard. Miami Dade College (MDC) has college-wide unlimited licenses for both of these tools. The presenters will discuss how these tools are currently used at MDC. During the presentation, the Respondus 4.0 tool will be covered. It is the tool that faculty can use to generate tests and upload to Blackboard.

Objectives

  • Identify the steps on how to use Respondus 4.0 to generate tests to upload to Bb
  • Distinguish the difference between Respondus Monitor and Respondus Lockdown Browser.
  • Identify the steps on how to access and utilize the Respondus Monitor tool through the Blackboard platform.
  • Discuss Best Practices associated with the use of Respondus Monitor and Respondus Lockdown Browser.
