This course is designed to provide local law enforcement officers with the fundamental knowledge base necessary to understand and identify the ideological foundations, characteristics, and threats posed by Domestic Violent Extremists (DVE’s). As the threat by DVE’s escalates in the U.S., the frequent target is the law enforcement officer responding to calls for service or being subjected to an unprovoked armed ambush. The results of the attacks have been deadly. Officers will learn what to look for and how to mitigate the threat. Case reviews will provide officers with a strong knowledge background on previous incidents and a review of the “Tools of Terror” and tactics used by these extremist groups will provide officers with knowledge on the weapons employed by such groups or individuals. The topics covered in this course will empower all levels of first responders and police, beginning with the officer being dispatched all the way to the commander making critical life safety decisions.

This training can be applied to Mandatory Training.

Instructor(s): Julio Pinera Pinera (Ret. Lt. Miami Police Dept.) will be the lead instructor. He brings extensive formal training and real-world experience related to DVE’s.
