Miami Dade College President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón

Miami, March 20, 2009 - Comprised of Fortune 500 CEOs, prominent university presidents, and foundation leaders, Miami Dade College (MDC) President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón has been appointed to the board of directors of the Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) based in Washington, D.C. He is the only Florida president on the board.


The BHEF is an organization working to advance innovative solutions to our nation's education challenges in order to enhance U.S. competitiveness. BHEF brings together an extraordinary coalition of corporate, academic and foundation members to influence public policy and inspire other corporate, academic and foundation leaders to act.


BHEF board members include Indra Nooyi, president and CEO of PepsiCo; David Skorton, president of Cornell University; Ruth Simmons, president of Brown University; Jeffrey B. Kindler, chairman of Pfizer Inc.; Edmund Kelly, president and CEO of Liberty Mutual Group; David Jones, president of Humana Inc.; Lee C. Bollinger, president of Columbia University; Timothy P. Flynn, chairman and CEO of KPMG; and John DeGioia, president of Georgetown University, among other national leaders. 


Just recently, Dr. Padrón was named to the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Miami Branch. In January, he was named chair of the Association of American Colleges and Universities.


Padrón, who has been president of Miami Dade College since 1995 and has worked at the college nearly four decades, has served on numerous important national boards, including appointments by four U.S. Presidents. He is also a member of the board of directors of the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation. Under his leadership, MDC has grown into the largest institution of higher education in the nation and a model for higher education excellence.
