Miami, November 3, 2010 - Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and Miami Dade College (MDC) alumnus Manny Garcia, the executive editor of El Nuevo Herald, will share his experiences on Thursday, Nov. 4 at MDC’s Wolfson Campus as part of the college’s renowned Journalism Speaker Series.

While at the Herald, Garcia also worked as an assistant city editor, special projects editor, AME/metro editor and senior news editor.

Garcia became the executive editor at El Nuevo Herald in April of 2009. He is a member of MDC’s Alumni Hall of Fame.

The MDC Journalism Speaker Series was launched in February of 2008 to create an exchange and learning opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in journalism. To date, 30 journalists have participated in the series.

This year’s lineup includes Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jim Morin, a cartoonist for the Miami Herald; WSVN Channel 7 anchor Craig Stevens; WPLG Channel 10 senior political reporter Michael Putney; Miami Herald breaking news editor Pat Andrews; USA Today reporter Alan Gomez; and former Miami Herald general assignment reporter Arnold Markowitz.

Each program includes a presentation by the journalists and a 15-minute question and answer session. All programs are free and open to the public.
