Miami, March 9, 2012 - Several Miami Dade College (MDC) art and photography students have been named as finalists in the League for Innovation’s national contest being held later this year.

The five finalists who will represent the College in the contest are Ronney Aragundi, Kendall Campus (etching print); Rafael Domenech, New World School of the Arts (drawing); Nikolas Fink, Kendall Campus (photograph); Junli Kato, New World School of the Arts (digital print); and Alejandro Valencia, North Campus (painting).

The finalists’ artwork will be on display at the Kendall Campus gallery through Friday, March 16

One of 19 member colleges belonging to the League for Innovation, MDC hosts its own college-wide art contest where the top student finalists are selected and chosen for the League’s national competition.

Last year, two students from MDC took top honors in the national contest. They were North Campus’ Lester Daniel Sanchez, who won “Best in Show/Juror’s Choice” for the painting, El Techero; and Wolfson Campus’ Luis Castaneda took third place for a black and white silver gelatin print.
