The Confucius Institute at Miami Dade College to Host Zhong Zhao at Three Campuses March 5-9
Miami, March 5, 2012 -
Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Confucius Institute will host environmentalist Zhong Zhao, who will present lectures on “China’s Big West and Its Environmental Crises” at three campuses this week. The lectures are free and open to the public.
Zhong Zhao’s lectures are part of the Confucius Institute’s Lecture Series in 2012. He is presently working with Office of International Education, the Earth Ethics Institute, the Office of the Dean of Students at Kendall Campus, and the School of Science at North Campus.
Zhong Zhao established Green Camel Bell (GCB), a grassroots environmental NGO in Gansu, northwest China, in 2004. For the past eight years, he and his colleagues have conducted programs and projects focusing on environmental education, water pollution monitoring, eco-agriculture, wetland conservation, disaster management, and volunteer development. Mr. Zhao was selected as one of Time Magazine’s 2009 “Heroes of the Environment." He has presented at Woodrow Wilson Center, Global Environmental Facility (GEF) Council Meetings in Washington DC, and the University of Colorado. He was a visiting scholar at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
