La Compañía Prometeo's Mujeres de Shakespeare Returns as Part of the 2012 Repertory Season

Miami, August 20, 2012 - La Compañía Prometeo continues their inaugural season with their popular production of Mujeres de Shakespeare (Shakespeare’s Women) at 8:00 p.m. September 7 and 8 and September 14 and 15.

Ranging from comedy to tragedy, engaging memory, fantasy and dream, embracing the heights of human passion and inspired by the most memorable Elizabethan characters in all of dramatic literature, this theatrical adventure brings to life the women fashioned by the most-produced playwright of all time: William Shakespeare. Featuring company members Danly Arango, Sarah Córdoba, Mariel Corona, Rosa Mendez, Boris Roa y Diana Vallejo, and written and directed by Neher Jacqueline Briceño, the play will be performed in Spanish with English supertitles.

Mujeres de Shakespeare debuted at the acclaimed XXVI International Hispanic Theater Festival of Miami in July 2011, receiving raves reviews. El Nuevo Herald described the performance as “En total, es un espectáculo merecedor de la fama de Prometeo, de gran historial artístico desde hace 35 años, como el más importante conservatorio de teatro en español en los Estados Unidos” (Overall, it is a performance deserving of Prometeo’s fame, a great artistic history that spans over 35 years and is unique in the nation offering the opportunity of conservatory-style actor training in Spanish).

After a successful tour for students and faculty of Skidmore College, Middlebury College and the University at Albany at Union College in Schenectady, New York, earlier this year, La Compañía Prometeo gets ready to tour this piece to local schools in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. In addition to these school performances, La Compañía Prometeo will feature productions year-round as well as tour nationally and internationally.

Tickets are $20, with discount for students and seniors.
