Miami Dade College to Pay Tribute to Nelson Mandela
Miami, December 10, 2013 -
Students, faculty and staff across Miami Dade College’s (MDC) campuses will celebrate the life and legacy of the Honorable Nelson Mandela this week.
The MDC community will gather to remember the most poignant times of President Mandela’s 95 years and to share perspectives on his innumerable leadership contributions toward leveling the playing field of equality and human rights.
At the North Campus, in addition to a tribute to Mandela, there will also be a presentation of the monologue "Hammering Out Human Rights: Eleanor Roosevelt at the United Nations,” by Susan Marie Frontczak at 11 a .m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the Lehman Theatre. Speaking in character as Eleanor Roosevelt, Frontczak will discuss the groundbreaking, development of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The program is free and open to the public and is presented in collaboration with the International Solidarity for Human Rights (ISHR).
