Miami Dade College InterAmerican Campus Student in Translation and Interpretation Studies Program Wins Scholarship

Miami, January 9, 2014 - Patricia Fundora, a Miami Dade College (MDC) InterAmerican Campus student in the Translation and Interpretation Studies program has been awarded the 2013-2014 JTG Scholarship in Scientific and Technical Translation or Interpretation, presented by the American Foundation of Translation & Interpretation (AFTI).

Muriel Jérôme-O’Keeffe, founding president of JTG, Inc. and former president of the AFTI, established the $2,500 award to encourage and recognize students in technical translation and interpreting programs.

Fundora is currently pursuing an Associate in Science degree in translation and interpretation and is preparing to take the certification exams administered by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters.

“I am pleased to see one of our students recognized for her scholarship and dedication to the profession,” said Dr. Ricardo Bardo-Portilla, Fundora’s professor. “This award is a source of encouragement for all the students in the Translation & Interpretation Studies program.”
