World-Class Chinese Performing Art Troupe Brings “Magic & Splendor from the Silk Road” to Miami Dade College Campuses May 8-9


Miami, April 25, 2014 - Inspired by the beauty of China’s Silk Road, China's world-renowned Northwest Normal University Performing Art Troupe will perform its colorful and highly-energetic variety show, “Magic & Splendor from the Silk Road,” at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Wolfson, Kendall and North Campuses May 8-9. Through dance, singing, instrumental music, drama and martial arts, the 25-member troupe will showcase the multi-cultural and multi-lingual traditions of China’s majestic Northwest region. Show times and locations are as follows:

Wolfson Campus, Thursday, May 8

Presented by MDC’s prestigious Confucius Institute (CI), the performances commemorate Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The troupe is distinguished as one of the finest college performing art groups in China, representing a diverse range of live art forms from the nation’s vast Northwestern region. The troupe has toured throughout China and performed live throughout Asia, Europe and Africa.

This event is sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban, and co-sponsored by the Asian American Advisory Board of Miami-Dade County, the Chinese Association of Science, Education and Culture of South Florida (CASEC), and the Federation of Florida Chinese Associations (FOFCA)

The performances are free and open to the public. Seating will be limited, so guests are required to RSVP and should arrive early. Donations will be accepted at each show to support the Student Scholarship Funds of Asian American Advisory Board of Miami-Dade County.
