Miami Dade College Sharks Men’s Basketball Team Hosts its Third Annual High School Spring League

Miami, May 6, 2014 - Miami Dade College’s (MDC) men’s’ basketball team has kicked off its Third Annual High School Spring League and is now gearing up for finals, which take place May 6, 13 and 14 in the Kendall Campus Gymnasium (Building G). The five-week league is comprised of 12 high school teams from throughout South Florida that square off for eight games before entering the playoffs. Games scheduled for May 6 and 13 begin at 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m. on May 14. They are free and open to the public.

The Spring High School League is headed by MDC men’s basketball head coach Stephen Cowherd and assistant coaches Ward Griffith and Kevin Ledoux. Team players also serve as mentors to help guide the high-school basketball players and provide tips on progressing to the college level.

“The Spring League has given the men’s basketball program a chance to interact with local high school coaches and also given us the chance to evaluate potential future Sharks,” Coach Cowherd said.
