Description

Syracuse University differs from most large research institutions in that it combines the warm personality of a small college with the greater resources needed to deliver superior academic and professional experiences. Syracuse’s nine undergraduate colleges offer liberal arts and professional studies along with the flexibility to explore varied interests and develop new ones.

Transfer Agreement Highlights

MDC students must earn the Associate in Arts degree and complete the required lower division courses at MDC for their intended major at SU with a grade of “C” or better, and have an overall GPA of 3.0  SU will accept all lower division credits from MDC as outlined in the major-specific sheets attached to the agreement.  The maximum number of transferable credit is 66 credit hours.  SU will provide special support services for transfer students, e.g. Transfer Orientation, Transfer Student Mentor program, Transfer Student Forum, Faculty and peer advisor,  etc.

Scholarships

Syracuse University will provide a financial aid package intended to cover tuition, mandatory fees, housing meals, supplies and books for those students who demonstrate financial need equal to or greater than these costs.

Students who demonstrate financial need less than the costs of tuition, mandatory fees, housing, meals, supplies and books will have their needs met under regular institutional policies for transfer students.  (Refer to the Syracuse University Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Program website for more information).

MDC graduates with at least a 3.5 GPA and who participated in Phi Theta Kappa will be awarded an additional merit award.  In 2011, this award is $2,000 per year.
