All Employee Groups Workshops
The workshops available to all employees are those that provide information, professional development and skills i.e. computer applications, service excellence, etc. needed for successful performance at the College.
College Training and Development provides a wide array of workshops for faculty that range from developing preliminary skills in the teaching/learning process to honing the art of teaching by using technology, teaching online, classroom management and numerous discipline specific workshops. Many of the workshops have been approved for Faculty Professional Development hours to be used in maintaining academic rank. Certification workshops are required to teach in specific programs as noted in the Certification Workshop section. The workshops listed in the All Employee Groups Workshops are also available and include many of the computer application skills needed by this group.
Adjunct Faculty Workshops
The Adjunct Faculty Orientation is required for adjunct faculty every 3 years. Additionally, the Adjunct Teaching Series or Teaching in College is recommended for adjuncts without prior teaching experience. The workshops listed in the Faculty Workshops and All Employee Groups Workshops sections are open to adjuncts to attend if they are not designated for a specific audience.
Supervisor, Manager, Department Chairperson, Director Workshops
Many workshops are available to assist Supervisors, Managers, Department Chairpersons, and Directors in their roles. Additionally, the skills developed in the workshops listed for New Supervisor/Managers and New Chairperson/Directors, are essential to their success and should be taken within the first year in these roles. The workshops listed in the All Employee Groups Workshops are also available and include many of the computer application skills needed by this group.
Many workshops are offered to staff to assist them in providing service excellence, in developing performance excellence, in learning about the College and its services as well in their own professional development and advancement. Some workshops listed in this category are for specific groups of staff as noted. Student Services Employee Workshops
These workshops are designed so that Student Services employees expand their knowledge and skills in assisting MDC students from recruitment, admissions, registration, financial aid, advisement, career planning, retention to graduation and transfer. The workshops listed in the All Employee Groups Workshops are also available and include many of the computer application skills needed by this group.
Special Request Workshops
Many workshops offered through College Training and Development are based on unique campus or department needs and are not noted in the workshop catalog. These workshops are designed to address the specific need. Generally these workshops focus on strategic planning, team effectiveness, goal setting/ action planning, or on topics/ disciplines only of interest to the particular group. Contact should be made with one of the CT&D Directors to plan a Special Request Workshop.
