This workshop will provide information as it relates to the Haitian Culture.  We will have an opportunity to explore the Haitian Culture by taking a brief journey into its past, find out more about its people and value systems, and how these impact student success.  As we work with Haitian students, we will gain a better understanding of approaches to enhance the teaching-learning process and outcomes of approaches to enhance the teaching-learning process and outcomes of the particular population.  As diversity is a banquet of color, sound and flavors, one will also sample a taste of Haiti's Cuisine.


 As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss two strategies to increase familiarity with Haitian cultural beliefs and practices
  • Value the concerns and issues in the Haitian culture, community, and Haitian Students
  • Identify barriers that will negatively impact the teaching-learning process when working with Haitian Students

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
