Our institution represents an indispensible rung in the academic ladder. Participants in this session will explore the benefits of increased communication among educators at all levels, from PK-12 to university. We will explore ways to find out more about where our students come from academically, and where they are going as they transfer to four-year institutions or join the local workforce. In preparation for this workshop, participants will read the article, "Partnerships the work: Community colleges are strengthening connections with K-12, other higher ed institutions, and public agencies to enrich the education pipeline and bolster economies."

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe some ways that community colleges can strengthen lines of communication with PK-12 and University educators
  • Explain the impact that improved links between educational institutions can have on students success
  • Explain how an effective "education pipeline" can enhance a community's workforce
  • Write a brief (1-page) summary of the session suitable for publication in the UFMDC newsletter
