Workshop: APA Refresher & Online Database

Short Title: APA Refresher    

 Audience    Adjunct Faculty 
Length of Workshop:       2 hours 

Adjunct faculty members, in collaboration with faculty librarians, are expected to teach students to properly use APA in orders to avoid plagiarism.  As such, faculty members are expected to teach students to use basic principles of APA, such as citations and references. This workshop will provide  adjunct faculty with the requisite knowledge to ensure students correctly utilize APA and can conduct effective searches of the MDC online library database.

* Adjunct faculty will be compensated at a rate of $20.00/hour upon successful completion of the workshop. While you are welcome to take a workshop more than once, CTD can only compensate adjunct faculty for the first time that they take one of these workshops.


As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Create APA formatted citations and references 
  • Correct APA citations and references in a mock student assignment
  • Access MDC library online research databases
  • Conduct research using MDC online library databases
  • Schedule classroom visits by faculty librarians

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
