Description:
The online Instructor Training course provides instruction on the most commonly used content development and learning management features in Angel. The self-paced course is formatted in twelve lessons. Each lesson contains multiple hands-on activities to familiarize the participant with common instructor tasks and a checkpoint assessment. Message Board interaction with an instructor and cohort participants is included for reflection and online classroom application.

Orientation sessions are held at various times and campuses during the first few days of the online workshops.   Attendance at one orientation (any campus) is highly recommended.   See schedules below.

You will be working with 3 courses during the training.

1 - Angel: Introductory Instructor Training -- This is where you will find the workshop lessons. Your role is student.

2 - CTD Sample Course - This is a sample course that you will explore in the first couple of lessons - Your role is student.

3 - A course you will create - This will be your "sandbox" course that will allow you to explore Instructor (designer) features - Your role is faculty.

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe ANGEL navigation features
  • Create  a Syllabus
  • Add Calendar and Announcement Items
  • Add Folders, Pages, File Items, and Links
  • Add Assessments, Drop Boxes, and Discussion Forums
  • Identify different grading modes within the gradebook 

  • Learn techniques for configuring the gradebook  

  • Upload different file types (images, documents, zip archives)
  • Add and manage Discussion Forums and Drop Boxes
  • Use other communication tools (Course Mail, Chat)
  • Create Teams
  • Run Reports
  • Use the Learner Profile
  • Describe Beginning-of-the-Term and End-of-the-Term procedures to manage an ANGEL Course

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
