Description:
This workshop will provide participants with an online environment with
Virtual College Instructional Designers to gain instructional design and
technological knowledge and skills to successfully revise online courses
for the Virtual College. As a result of the workshop, the participants
will deliver a course revision plan and an online course that meets the
MDC Quality Standards for Online Courses. In order to support
participants' pre-approval revision efforts, this workshop will to
be taken during the same time participants are scheduled to revise their
courses
Objectives
As a result of successful completion of the
workshop, participants will be able to:
- Summarize VC procedures for revising online
courses
- Identify the major areas of the MDC Quality
Standards for Online Courses
- Evaluate current course according to the MDC
Quality Standards of Online Courses
- Review feedback and/or results form student and
other faculty evaluations of the online course in order to improve
the course and implement ideas from others
- Create a revision plan using a Curriculum Planner
based on course competencies and the content modules and lessons
- Select additional components for the course Home
Page that best serve the students population in the course Identify
and Select Content
- List types of content that may be used in an
online course
- Explore and classify instructional strategies
- Select and organize lesson documents and
templates according to four instructional events: Introduction,
Presentation, Activities, and Assessment
- Search, bookmark, and organize updated web
resources for each module ADA, Copyright, and Multimedia Standards

How to Register
Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and
Registration system. The process for registering for a CTD
workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.
You can access the Registration System and register
for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to
login to your computer. Example: Richard
Johnson would be rjohnson (You will
NOT
need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD
workshop)
Make a note of the Reference Number for the
workshop then go to
Registration Instructions
Once you have registered for a class, you can print your
schedule. Please make every effort to attend once
you've registered as seats are limited.
However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web
Registration screen. CTD classes will
appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
If you need special assistance to
participate in this workshop due to a disability, please call CT&D at
7-2366 so that appropriate arrangements can be made. College
