Description:
The Florida Departments of Education (FLDOE) mandates that all students completing K-12 baccalaureate degrees programs in the School of Education
at MDC complete clinical experience hours in Miami Dade County Public schools (K-12 settings). Students are expected to apply research based practices, ESOL and Reading principles and practices, an ESE accommodating strategies at schools sites. Clinical experiences must be completed in settings that represent the full spectrum of the community, including urban and rural settings, as well as Title I schools. In order to ensure students are meeting these requirements, SOE faculty members must be aware of the FLDOE requirements as well as their nuances. Through this workshop, participants will learn the students' and instructors' clinical experience responsibilities as mandated by the state and the process outlined by in the SOE Clinical Experience Packet.
 

* Adjunct faculty will be compensated at a rate of $20.00/hour upon successful completion of the workshop.  While you are welcome to take a workshop more than once, CTD can only compensate adjunct faculty for the first time that they take one of these workshops.

 
 Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the FLDOE clinical experience requirements
  • Select schools for students' clinical experiences that are in compliance with FLDOE mandates as highlighted in course syllabi
  • Explain and adhere to the SOE clinical experience documentation process (students, faculty, and schools)
  • Explain and adhere to the grading process for clinical experiences

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
