Description:
As the instructor of a course, you are an expert when it comes to content, but are you aware of the resources available to students in the technology lab?  The purpose of this workshop is to familiarize adjunct instructors with the software and hardware available in the lab and to clarify the instructor's role in the lab setting.  Instructors will be provided with a list of the lab's policies and procedures and a generic syllabus with sample grading policy.  A tour of the lab facility will be conducted, together with a discussion of expectations of students, lab assistants and course instructors in the lab setting. There will also be a "hands-on" demonstration of educational software programs and a review of basic trouble-shooting techniques. 

Objectives

As a result of successful completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • List and explain the lab policies and procedures
  • Explain the roles of course instructor, lab assistants and students in the technology lab setting.
  • Describe the lab grading policy as outlined on the generic lab syllabus
  • List and describe the software programs available to students in the lab
  • Design appropriate lessons and activities for students that include the use of lab software

How to Register

Registration for CT&D workshops are through the Student Information and Registration system.  The process for registering for a CTD workshop will be the same as registering for a regular class at MDC.  

New - Easier registration for workshops

You can access the Registration System and register for a CTD workshop using the same user name and password that use to login to your computer.    Example:   Richard Johnson  would be rjohnson     (You will NOT need to create a separate student myMDC account to register for a CTD workshop

Make a note of the Reference Number for the workshop then go to Registration Instructions

Once you have registered for a class, you can print your schedule.    Please make every effort to attend once you've registered as seats are limited.     However, If you need to drop, you can also do this through the Web Registration screen.     CTD classes will appear on your transcript as non-credit classes.
